Hey! I was really surprised to notice it. According to Inside Facebook, the number of menbers is up to 140 millions at the beggining of December.

- 700 million photos are uploaded to the site each month
- 4 million videos are uploaded each month
- 15 million pieces of content (web links, news stories, blog posts, notes, photos, etc.) are shared each month
- 2 million events created each month
- 19 million active groups exist on the site
- Average number of friends per one user is 100
For me, all of the statistics are amazing because I haven't seen such a growing on Japanese SNS, mixi. I occasionaly use it to communicate with friends whom I made in Vancouver, though the number of friends on this site is much less than 100.
In my opinion, SNS is gonna become a mainstream way of making and communicating with friends, even if it's superficial and widely one. It's because friends over 100 on SNS is able to be equal to friends in real, I guess. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing how big and useful Facebook's becoming.

I have a facebook account and I think it's just a huge spam/ad-a-thon all the time...
Yeah, you get to interact with your friends, but all the aplications and such are highly annoying :S
